About Us

Empowering people to change their working conditions

Why we do what we do

According to the World Health Organization, almost 2/3 of the world’s 3 billion workers are employed in unhealthy and unsafe working conditions. Dr. Jukka Takala presented a WHWB webinar  in March 2021. He reported data from the ILO and WHO showing nearly 3 million deaths from occupational disease and 380,500 fatal accidents occurred in 2017. In addition, 374 million of the world’s workers suffered non-fatal occupational accidents. In 2020,  2.4 million fatal diseases were reported.

Workplace Health Without Borders works to advance the protection of workers and promote best practices to improve worker safety and Health. To this end, in 2019 WHWB International signed a Memorandum of Collaboration with the United States National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH).

Our National Branches

Workplace Health Without Borders International was founded in the spring of 2011 by a group of occupational hygienists in Toronto, Canada. Since then, WHWB has grown to include national branches in the United Kingdom, United States, and Australia. Each branch is an autonomous entity that operates consistently within WHWB’s strategic framework and guideline.
